MEETINGS
WHCRMS SPRING CONFERENCE Report from the organizers of : “Could Healthcare Get Anymore CONVOLUTED!?!” “. The conference was a successful opportunity to understand more about ERM in a healthcare setting. Those who attended also heard practical updates about current state regulations directly from the responsible regulators (mandated medical malpractice claim reporting; mandated adverse event reporting) recently passed statutes; and significant case law. Speakers received high marks and constructive feedback and there were helpful suggestions for using the facility and preparing our conference brochures as well. We wish the room had been warmer (and will certainly work to make it warmer next time) and are glad the food was good. We look forward to preparing for the next year of WHCRMS meetings. We really, really, really appreciate the ideas for the next educational presentations. (Thank you for filling out your evaluation forms).
Our thanks to our featured speakers: Peggy Nakamura, JD (ERM in Healthcare), Lisa Smego with the Office of the Insurance Commissioner (Mandatory reporting of medical malpractice claims and suits) , Linda Furkay with DOH (Adverse Events reporting); Kim Baker and Mary Spillane (case law updates) with Williams, Kastner.
If you haven’t downloaded your handouts yet, get them quick! After August you’ll need to call or email Dianne Garcia to get your copy.
