Virginia Mason Medical Center Claims Specialist Patient Safety (Sept. 3)
Ensures the accuracy of the claims management database. Manages complex professional and general liability, automobile, and other select liability, property or fiduciary claims (including reserving and bill payment) and is responsible for communication with respect to the claim. Collaborates with patient safety team and workforce members on risk reduction, patient safety programs, and process improvements, risk management consultation and education. Requires a Bachelors degree, certification in risk management and 3-5 years experience in a clinical setting. The successful applicant will be flexible, and demonstrate a positive approach to change, good skills in conflict and stress management, and have strong computer skills and excellent written and verbal communication and relationship management skills. The coordinator improves the integrated safety and risk management system: including prevention, identification, elimination, or reduction of the number and severity of safety risks and losses and the identification, investigation and resolution of significant adverse events, tracks the number and severity of risks/losses and serious incidents and implements risk reduction and loss prevention activities to meet performance targets. This position works with guidance and direction from the Safety and Risk Management Project Manager as well as the Director of Risk Management.
